In San Diego, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in California, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Hours have not been published for this listing yet. Most businesses of this type in San Diego keep standard business hours, but call ahead to be sure, especially on weekends and holidays. You can reach DnA Plants at (858) 316-1193; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is instagram.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 5.0 out of 5 on Google across 120 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded plant nurseries in San Diego.

I happened to see a listing on FB Marketplace for a Thai Constellation from DnA Plants. I actually did purchase one from Trader Joe’s the day before, but since I was in the area, I decided to check out DnA. From the very start, David was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable with all of the plants he was showing me. He even explained how the “big guys” affect his business and other small plant shop business owners. Needless to say, his selection of Thai Constellations were much more beautiful than the one from the one I got from TJ! It’s a bit pricier, but it’s well worth supporting a small business and he even threw in an extra snake plant for me! And the fact that I can tell that he has a love and passion for his plants and he wants to see his customers thrive is just an positive overall experience. I’ll definitely come back again to see what he has in stock the next time I’m in the area!

David takes such good care of the plants here I almost feel bad taking them home!! You’d be surprised at the wide variety of different selections in this little shop. David is beyond helpful, knowledgeable and really takes the time to make sure you go home with the right plant baby. Every plant I’ve purchased here has been thriving beautifully and continues to do so. DNA plants is truly a hidden gem!

Incredible customer service! I had the pleasure of speaking with David, one of the owners, about their aroid soil mixes and their prices. He quoted me a reasonable price and gave me an awesome discount. Keep in mind, this was my first time interacting with them. Also spoke with Aylin, and she was very nice and extremely helpful. They also have an amazing selection of plants in their shop. I will definitely come back! Gotta love a local business that goes out of their way to help a customer out! My Thai constellation is def happy with their soil mix!
